Surviving Cancer (In His Own Words)
"It was May of 2001 that I was informed by my doctor that I had cancer As you can imagine this news came as a shock to me and my family. It was even more of a shock to discover that I had an extremely aggressive, fast-growing, cancer which had already gone well beyond an initial tumor. I was already at stage three, going into stage four. The prognosis was that I had only about 3-4 months to live. And, because my cancer had spread beyond the original site, my surgeon fully expected it to re-occur elsewhere in my body. Over the years he thought that the cancer had spread to my bladder and to my throat. Although both of these fears proved to be false, it does serve as a reminder that the tough thing about cancer is that it sort of takes over your life once it strikes. Having refused chemo-therapy & radiation, on the advice of my medical specialist a few weeks following my surgery I went on a total vegetarian diet and a complete lifestyle change.

Within a month of these changes I began to notice a slight improvement in my sense of well-being. And within a couple months it was obvious my strength was returning and with it a much greater sense of well-being. My cancer-count initially was checked every 3 months but now twice yearly. Instead of getting sicker I have gotten better. It is now 7 years since my cancer & I have spent the last several winters enjoying downhill skiing and have lots of energy and feel very well."

Carleton Baptist Church
Pastor Covey and the members of Carleton Baptist Church have been meeting in a day care facility in Ottawa for several years.  A few years ago the church was given the opportunity to purchase a piece of land outside of Ottawa.  The Lord's Hand was obviously in the land purchase.  The price Carleton Baptist paid for the land was a fraction of the going price for real estate in that area.  Since the purchase of the land the church has been doing what many of our churches have to do...fighting red tape and raising funds to build.  After years of dealing with provincial and municipal government regulations, the church if ready to begin site preparation and then build!  They have announced their "Pathway Project" to let churches and individuals know the need and see the vision for the new building.  I trust you will join me in praying for the Coveys and the people of Carleton Baptist Church.  As you have time, visit their web site at http://www.carletonbaptist.org and learn more about this fine church!
